We were a bit nervous about planting broad beans in the Autumn for the first time, mostly because we didn’t know how they would fare if it came to snow.

Thin winter sun

Well, our fears came true last night with a cold snap and a few centimetres of the white stuff, but we shouldn’t have been too concerned because the beans have come through in pretty good shape.

Brrrr!

We checked them out after a little thaw and they did look a bit limp and sorry for themselves, but nothing too bad and they should perk up when it warms up.

Tough little plants!
